Upgrade from Version 7 to Version 8
Released 12/22/04
This is a significant update that must also update the workstation support files. (Most previous updates only updated the files in the shared application folder and occasionally the data files.)
For a list of changes in this update go to: Recent Changes
Requirements
In order to apply the update, you must have Titanium Schedule version 7 and have database version 040501. You can check both of these by starting Titanium Schedule, selecting Help, then Version Information.
(While you are viewing the Version Information screen, write down the Application Folder. You will need it later.)
  • Find the line titled Support Library Version. If the first two digits are “07”, then you have version 7. If the first two digits are “08”, then you are already running version 8.
  • Find the line titled Database Version. It should show “040501”. If it does not, then you will need to install the latest full version 7 update (Version 7 Full Patch) before proceeding with this update.
Background Information
There are three components to Titanium Schedule. The first two of these (application files and workstation support files) will be affected by the upgrade from version 7 to 8.
  1. The workstation support files which are installed on every computer that will be running Titanium Schedule. (These were installed by SetupWorkstation70SP1.exe in Version 7 and are installed by SetupWorkstation80SP1.exe in Version 8)
  2. The application files which are in a shared network folder. In the past, the start program was Ti7.exe, and the application files were named Ti7??.APP. In version 8, the start program is Ti8.exe, and the new application files are TI8??.APP.)
  3. The data is stored in SQL Server or MSDE. Version 8 requires that you have data version 040501 or later as described in the Requirements section above.
Instructions to Update Shared Application Folder Files
  1. Download SetupWorkstation80SP1.exe (18.3 MB) and save it into your Titanium Schedule application folder. You can determine the location of your Titanium Schedule application folder by starting Titanium Schedule and from the Main Menu, selecting Help, then Version Information. The second line will display the application folder location.
  2. Download UpdateVer7ToVer8.zip (3.9 MB) and unzip it into your Titanium Schedule application folder. You can delete the file Ti8.zip after you have unzipped it.
Instructions to Update Workstations
Repeat the following on each workstation that will be running Titanium Schedule:
  1. Login to the workstation as someone with Administrator level rights.
  2. Run the file SetupWorkstation80SP1.exe from the application folder.
  3. Create new shortcut to Ti8.exe in the application folder. (Or you can edit the exiting shortcut for Ti7.exe)
  4. Optional: Uninstall the version 7 support files. You can do this using the Control Panel and Add or Remove Programs. The entry for the version 7.0 support files will be Titanium Schedule Support Files 7.0 SP1.
Cleanup
After the workstations have been updated, you can remove the version 7 files from the application folder. We recommend that you move these files to a temporary folder, then delete them in a few weeks if everything goes well with version 8. Removing these files will also help you identify any workstations that were missed during the update, because those users will no longer be able to run version 7 and will contact you to find out why.
The version 7 files are:
  • SetupWorkstation70SP1.exe
  • All the files that start with Ti7 (e.g. Ti7.exe and one or more Ti7??.APP files).
Check for Other Updates
Start Titanium Schedule and select Help, then Check for Updates to see if there is anything else you need to do.
