Most updates to Titanium Schedule can be installed by using the Check for Updates
feature on the Help menu of your current version of Titanium Schedule.
If there is an update that cannot be installed automatically, the
Check for Updates feature will notify you that you need to come to
this page for instructions. These updates usually require the assistance of your
computer support staff, and all users will need to be out of Titanium while the update is applied.

Determining Your Current Version
To determine how to update your version of Titanium Schedule, you need to know the following:
- current version release date
- support library version
- database version
All of these can be determined by starting Titanium Schedule, selecting the Help menu,
then choosing Version Information. Below is a sample
Version Information screen with the release date, support library version, and database version indicated by the yellow arrows. It is possible in some
very old versions that no release date is displayed on the first line. In that case, the the last 8 digits of the Application Version number
(e.g. 200091006) is the release date in the format YYYYMMDD.
With that information, you can lookup the steps required to update Titanium Schedule in the sections below. The most recent updates are first, and as you go down the page,
there are older updates going back to 2003. If your current version information does not appear to match any of the sections below, please contact us for assistance.
|
Your database version should be 081201, and your support library version should begin with 09.
All you need to do is the following:
- start Titanium Schedule
- select the Help menu
- choose Check for Updates option
- from the Check for Updates screen, select the Check for Updates button
- if any updates are found, select the Install Updates button
You are up-to-date when you select the Check for Updates button and the screen displays:
"This version is up to date. There are no new files to install."
|
Your support library version should begin with 09, and your release date does not matter. It is probably between 12/1/07 and 12/15/08.
Do the following:
- start Titanium Schedule
- select the Help menu
- choose Check for Updates option
- from the Check for Updates screen, select the Check for Updates button
- if any updates are found, select the Install Updates button
Continue the Check for Updates and Install Updates
cycle until you receive a message that there is an update the cannot be installed using the Check for Updates
feature. At that point, you should download the instructions and file below for the next phase of the update. This phase will require the assistance of your
computer support staff, and no users in your center should be logged-in to Titanium while this update phase is being installed.
After those files are installed by your computer support staff, you should continue the update process by following the instructions in the
section above this one.

Your release date does not matter. It is probably between 4/10/06 and 12/1/07.
This is known as the Data Forms update, and it is one of the largest updates to Titanium Schedule. To get an idea of some of the changes,
review the details for this update on the
Update History pages under Version 12/3/2007. For an overview of the changes
and new features, read the
What's New in Titanium document.
To proceed with this update:
- start Titanium Schedule
- select the Help menu
- choose Check for Updates option
- from the Check for Updates screen, select the Check for Updates button
- if any updates are found, select the Install Updates button
Continue the Check for Updates and Install Updates
cycle until you receive a message that there is an update the cannot be installed using the Check for Updates
feature. This next phase of this update will require the assistance of your
computer support staff, and no users in your center should be logged-in to Titanium while this update phase is being installed.
Please contact us by e-mail at
Support@TitaniumSoftware.com when your computer support is ready to
perform this update. In your email, just say you want update to the Data Forms version of Titanium. We will respond with the instructions and files you
need. The files and instructions are not posted on our website and are only available via email.
If you are using the old free version of Microsoft SQL Server called MSDE 2000 to store your Titanium data, you should update to Microsoft SQL Server 2005
or 2008 before doing this update. The free version of SQL Server has been renamed from MSDE to Microsoft SQL Server Express. Although Titanium will run
on SQL Server 2000 and MSDE 2000, the MSDE 2000 version does not include a graphical user interface to perform the steps outlined in our update instructions.
After the update files are installed by your computer support staff, you should continue the update process by following the instructions in the section above this one.
|
Your database version should be 040501. If your database version number is higher than 040501, contact us before proceeding.
If your database version number is lower than 040501, you currently have an older version of Titanium Schedule, probably version 7, and you
should perform the update described in the section below this one before proceeding with this upgrade.
Your release date does not matter. It is probably between 12/22/04 and 4/01/06.
This is an upgrade from Version 8 to Version 9. This upgrade will update the Titanium Schedule application files and workstation support files to Version 9.
It does not alter the database files that are stored in Microsoft SQL Server or MSDE.
To minimize disruption, you can perform the following steps while other users continue to use version 8 of Titanium.
-
Download SetupWorkstation90SP1.exe
and save it into your Application Folder. (Determining Your Current Version at
the top of this page explains how to find your Application Folder.)
-
On one workstation computer:
-
start Titanium Schedule and login as someone with System level rights
-
select the Help menu
-
choose Check for Updates option
-
from the Check for Updates screen, select the Check for Updates button
-
if any updates are found, select the Install Updates button
This will install the most recent version 8 files and the rest of the files required for version 9.
-
On every workstation that will be running Titanium, perform the following steps.
(These steps are the same as those for setting up a new workstation and are documented in
SetupWorkstation9.pdf)
-
Open the application folder and create a shortcut to the file Ti9.exe on the workstation’s desktop (or start menu) to make it
easy for that user to start Titanium Schedule.
To create a shortcut, right click and drag the Ti9.exe file from the shared application
folder to the desktop. When you release the mouse a menu will appear. Pick “Create Shortcut(s) Here” from the menu. Then rename the
shortcut from “Shortcut to Ti9.exe” to “Titanium Schedule”. If you are not logged in as the normal user on that computer, you should
move the shortcut to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Desktop so it is available to all users of that computer. If you are updating
a workstation that is running version 8 of Titanium Schedule, you can edit the existing shortcut so that it points to Ti9.exe instead
of Ti8.exe.
-
Run SetupWorkstation90SP1.exe from the application folder.
You will need to have Administrator rights on the workstation to successfully run this setup program.
-
Reboot the workstation if the setup program requests it.
-
Optional: Uninstall the version 8 support files. You can do this using the Control Panel and selecting Add or Remove Programs.
Then select the Remove button for the entry titled Titanium Schedule Support Files 8.0 SP1.
-
Confirm that you are now running version 9 by starting Titanium Schedule and checking that the first digit of your Application Version is 9.
-
Cleanup the Titanium Schedule Application Folder. After all the workstations have been updated, you can remove the version 8 files from the
application folder. We recommend that you move these files to a temporary folder, then delete them in a few weeks if everything goes well
with version 9. Removing these files will also help you identify any workstations that were missed during the update process because
the old version of Titanium will no longer run on those computers.
The version 8 files that can be removed from the application folder and eventually deleted are:
- SetupWorkstation80SP1.exe
- SetupWorkstation8.doc
- All the files that start with Ti8 (e.g. Ti8.exe and one or more Ti8??.APP files)
- ConfigData8.exe
- Notify8_*.exe
-
You can delete the error log files XErrors.dbf and XErrors.fpt. (They will be recreated the next time someone starts Titanium.)
- You can delete any temporary files files that have the extension *.tmp
After this update is installed, you should continue the update process by following the instructions in the section above this one.
|
Your database version should be 040501. If your database version number is not 040501, you should perform the update
described in the section below this one before proceeding with this upgrade.
The release date does not matter. It is probably between older than 12/22/04.
This is an upgrade from Version 7 to Version 8.
This is a significant update that must also update the workstation support files.
To upgrade from version 7 to version 8, perform the following:
-
Update the Shared Application Folder files:
-
Download SetupWorkstation80SP1.exe
and save it to your Application Folder. (Determining Your Current Version at the top of
this page explains how to find your Application Folder.)
-
Download UpdateVer7ToVer8.zip
and unzip it into your Application Folder. You can delete the file Ti8.zip after you have unzipped it.
-
Repeat the following steps on each workstation that will be running Titanium Schedule:
-
Login to the workstation as someone with Administrator level rights.
-
Run the file SetupWorkstation80SP1.exe from the application folder.
-
Create new shortcut to Ti8.exe in the application folder. (Or you can edit the exiting shortcut for Ti7.exe.)
-
Optional: Uninstall the version 7 support files. You can do this using the Control Panel and Add or Remove Programs.
The entry for the version 7.0 support files will be Titanium Schedule Support Files 7.0 SP1.
-
After all workstations have been updated, you can remove the version 7 files from the application folder. We recommend that you move these
files to a temporary folder, then delete them in a few weeks if everything goes well with version 8. Removing these files will also help
you identify any workstations that were missed during the update, because those users will no longer be able to run version 7.
The version 7 files are:
- SetupWorkstation70SP1.exe
- All the files that start with Ti7 (e.g. Ti7.exe and one or more Ti7??.APP files)
-
Start Titanium Schedule and select the Help menu,
then Check for Updates to see if there is anything else you need to do.
If you are prompted to run the Update Data 10/31/04,
you should click here for more information.
After this update is installed, you should continue the update process by following the instructions in the section above this one.

Your database version should be 030101. The release date does not matter. It is probably between 1/1/03 and 12/22/04.
This is the final update for Titanium Schedule version 7. This patch will update any previous version of Titanium Schedule
to the 12/22/04 version.
Updates to Titanium Schedule are performed using an Update Wizard. This process normally takes 10 to 20 minutes. Perform the following steps:
-
Create a temporary folder on your computer.
-
Download TiFullPatch.zip
and save it to the temporary folder.
-
Unzip the file you downloaded into a temporary folder. Do not unzip it into the Titanium Schedule application folder.
-
Run the file UpdateTitanium.exe from the temporary folder. To run this program, you will need a computer configured to run Titanium Schedule.
(If you want to run this update from a computer that is not setup for Titanium Schedule, download and install
SetupWorkstation70SP1.exe first.)
-
The Update Wizard will prompt you for the Titanium Schedule application folder. If you are not sure where the Titanium Schedule application
folder is located, start Titanium Schedule, and from the menu select Help,
then Version Information. This will open a dialog window and the
second line will display the Application Folder location.
-
Follow the Wizard prompts. What happens next depends on the your current version of Titanium Schedule. You will encounter one of the
two scenarios below.
-
Scenario 1: The update can be applied while others are using Titanium Schedule.
-
The Wizard will prompt you with a message indicating that Titanium Schedule can be updated while others are in the system.
When you select Next, the update will be applied.
-
Scenario 2: The update requires everyone to be out of Titanium Schedule before it can be applied.
-
The Wizard will prompt you with a message indicating that all users must be out of Titanium Schedule before the update can be applied.
It will also indicate you need Database Owner access to the Titanium Schedule database. This type of patch is usually applied after
normal work hours and may be done by your computer support staff. If you decide to proceed, the Wizard will attempt to confirm that
no one is currently using Titanium Schedule, then lock users out of Titanium Schedule for the duration of the update.
-
The Wizard will then prompt you for your SQL Server login information. You must login with
Database Owner or higher privileges
to apply the update.
-
You will be given the opportunity to backup the Titanium Schedule database before proceeding with the update.
-
Confirm the Update was applied successfully:
-
Start Titanium Schedule to see if there are any error messages. (There is an automatic basic system integrity check every time
Titanium Schedule is started.) You can also manually check the Titanium Schedule version information by starting Titanium Schedule
and, from the main menu, select Help, then
Version Information.
The expected version values are:
Application Version: 12/22/2004
Database Version: Current: 040501 Required: 040501
-
Start Titanium Schedule and select Help, then
Check for Updates to see if there is anything else you need to do.
If you are prompted to run the Update Data 10/31/04,
you should click here for more information.
Troubleshooting:
If you have any problems applying the update, please contact us for assistance. If you can start the Wizard, but it will not complete,
please also email us the file UpdateTitanium.log from the temporary folder. That log file contains diagnostic information from the Update Wizard.
After this update is installed, you should continue the update process by following the instructions in the section above this one.
